The 9th ACGSA Roundtable on Green & Sustainable Architecture was held in Bangkok, Thailand on February 24, 2017. The theme was: “From vernacular Architecture towards Sustainable Design for Industry……what are the possibilities.” It was organized by the Association of Siamese Architects (ASA).
ARCASIA President Ar. Jahangir Khan was the guest of honor while 12 ARCASIA member countries participated. ARCASIA Hon. Secretary Ar. Ramiz Baig & Hon. Treasurer Ar. Sannah Ejaz were observers while Pakistan was represented by President IAP Ar. Ali Zafar Qazi, Vice President IAP Ar. Fawad Suhail Abbasi and the ACGSA Member from IAP, Ar. Amina Qayyum Mirza as the Official Delegate.
Pakistan has been a trendsetter in organizing international events and was the first country to start the culture of Roundtables with the first Roundtable on 1st October 2013. The 9th Roundtable brought forward a number of issues and resolutions which were discussed in detail by the delegates. Each country report spoke about the immediate and future concerns and how they have countered them in their respective countries. The ideas were shared with a global vision and decisions taken to combat them.
A special meeting between office bearers of ARCASIA, IAP & IIA, chaired by President ARCASIA Ar. Jahangir Khan also took place to discuss the Visa situation for Pakistani Delegates for the 19th ARCASIA Forum in Jaipur, India and other options in case the relevant permission doesn’t come through. President IIA Ar. Divya Kush confirmed to President ARCASIA that as per his advice 19th ARCASIA Office Bearers Meeting will be moved to a third country if the Visas do not come through by the date decided.
It was later moved to Kathmandu, Nepal for 3rd & 4th November 2017 and was hosted by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) in collaboration with Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA).
