Organized by Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), the ACAE Roundtable on Regional Collaboration and Exchange aimed to foster mutually beneficial cooperation between ARCASIA Architecture schools, students and teachers to improve the architectural knowledge network in Asia. The roundtable will discussed different formats, illustrated successful examples, identified needs and opportunities and concluded with recommendations and concrete initiatives to advance this agenda.
President IAP Ar. Ali Zafar Qazi and Ar. Khadija Jamal Shaban, Chairperson Board of Architectural Education (BAE) represented IAP at the session which started with a welcome Note by the Convener Ar. Nuno Soares (Acting Chair ACAE) welcoming all the member delegates / Observers / Office Bearers to the roundtable. President ARCASIA Ar. SM Jahangir Khan in his inaugural speech stressed upon having a fruitful Exchange of Students & Teachers within the ARCASIA Countries as well as outside ARCASIA. He informed the Committee various interactions in this regard with some of the International Institutes. Ar. Nuno Soares, briefed the Committee about ACAE on-going projects such as Faculty Training Program, Virtual School of Architecture‐Pilot Workshop, Summer Workshop, Roundtables on Architecture Education in ASIA etc.
Ar. (Dr) Mohd Zulhemlee, from Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) proposed to have a Student Exchange Program. He elaborated on the purpose and the scope of the Student Exchange Program & informed the Committee the details will be circulated soon. Participants were asked to prepare a list with contacts of architecture schools willing to participate in International exchange and collaboration programs.
