Institute of Architects Pakistan Lahore Chapter organized a three-day Annual Architects Convention along with Building Materials & Product Exhibition in Lahore. A large number of architects, engineers and related professionals attended the event. While welcoming the participants, President ARCASIA, Ar. Jahangir Khan Sherpao appreciated the efforts of IAP Lahore Chapter for organizing such a successful event. In his address, Ar. Sikandar Hayat Khan stressed that architecture and the built environment are by-products of civilization, ideology and cultural processes which cannot be separated from each other. Chairman IAP Lahore Chapter, Ar. Sajjad Kausar said that the event offered a unique opportunity for students of architecture to interact with each other and exchange their ideas for the greater benefit of all. President IAP, Ar. Ali Zafar Qazi thanked all the participants for attending the event. He said that the changing urban landscapes in our towns and cities manifest that there is a strong need to look at the concepts of conservation from a new perspective and that conservation of heritage essentially means securing our built past. Convener of the event, Ar. Faizullah Qureshi said that we cannot ignore the advancement in technology in today’s ever-changing world and we cannot also ignore the vital role cultural heritage plays in general group value of a region.
At various sessions stretched over three days, highly informative papers were read by prominent architects including Ar. Ashley de Vos, Ar. Tania Ali, Ar. Zeeshan Zaheer, Ar. Sajjad Kausar, Ar. Dr George Arbid, Ar. Maria Khan and Ar. Ilyas Malik.
