President ARCASIA Ar. S M Jahangir Khan organized a first of its kind Roundtable on Heritage – Conservation – Renovation “Adaptive reuse of heritage structures” on 1st July 2017 in Budapest, Hungary in collaboration with V4AF Visegrad Four Architectural Foundation (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic & Slovakia). The much needed interaction between Asian and European states finally reached important landmarks and was attended by 11 Country delegates. The meeting was presided over by President ARCASIA Jahangir Khan & President of Advisory Board V4AF Ar. Erno Kalman. Hon. Secretary ARCASIA Ar. Ramiz Baig was the Convener roundtable.
Pakistan was represented by four architects, Ar. Marvi Mazhar (IAP Official Delegate), Ar. Fawad Suhail Abbasi (Observer & IAP Vice President), Ar. Affan Adil (Observer) & Ar. Wajahat Ali (Observer). Various presentations were made by participants from both Asian & European countries followed by a question & hour session and discussions.
A formal resolution was passed by members of ARCASIA & V4AF with an understanding to continue collaborating on many other projects and technology sharing amongst these member countries. This was a start to a great dialogue with input from countries that have learnt from experience and have set new standards that many developing countries can learn from.
