Annual General Body Meeting 2019 of Institute of Architects, Pakistan
Annual General Body Meeting of the Institute of Architects, Pakistan (IAP), was held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at IAP House Karachi, Faletti’s Hotel Lahore, Marriott Hotel Islamabad and Spring Village Restaurant Peshawar. The IAP AGM was held at four locations simultaneously, through video-link. The quorum for the meeting was achieved by representations of member architects from all Chapters of IAP across Pakistan.
Chaired by the President IAP Ar. Muhammad Arif Changezi, the AGM on October 31, 2019 began with the recitation from Holy Quran. The first item on agenda was to confirm Minutes of the Annual General Body Meeting held on November 24, 2018 which was followed by the Honorary Secretary’s report on activities of IAP during the year by Ar. Farida Abdul Ghaffar. Ar. Khadija Jamal Shaban presented her 2nd year term as Chairperson Board of Architectural Education. The Honorary Treasurer IAP, Ar. Mumtaz Jilani then presented audited accounts for the year 2018-2019 followed by a presentation of next year’s budget and appointment of the Auditor. The next item on the agenda was holding of Annual Elections of National Council for the year 2019-20.
Three positions were vacated this year upon completion of three years’ tenure by Ar. Mumtaz Jilani, Ar. Farida Abdul Ghaffar and Ar. Fawad Suhail Abbasi. Recognizing the services of all retiring members of the IAP National Council, President IAP Ar. Muhammad Arif Changezi appreciated and lauded their services to IAP and thanked all three outgoing National Council members.
In order to elect new members for three vacant seats the office of Honorary Secretary had received Seven (07) nominations. After scrutiny, Four (04) nominations were declared qualified to contest the Elections as mentioned below:
1. Ar. Azhar Mamoon Sualehi
2. Ar. Bisma Sami Askari
3. Ar. Faisal Bilwany
The AGM for the year 2019 was adjourned with Dinner to follow. Immediately after the AGM and election results, the 1st National Council meeting for the year 2019-2020 was held at the same venues, during which the following office bearers were elected:

2. Ar. Abdul Qadir, FIAP - Vice President-I
3. Ar. Komal Parvez, FIAP - Vice President-II
4. Ar. Khadija Jamal Shaban, FIAP – Chairperson, Board of Architectural Education

6. Ar. Faisal Bilwany, AIAP - Honorary Treasurer
